Stuart Binny replaces injured Varun Aaron

Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron injured the quadriceps muscle in his right leg while bowling for India in the First One Day International Cricket Match against Si Lanka in Cuttack on Sunday. He had to leave the field in pain halfway through his fifth over forcing Captain, Virat Kohli to fill in for him and complete the over.

Karnataka all-rounder Stuart Binny has been picked to take Varun Aaron’s spot in the Indian team for the second and third ODIs against Sri Lanka. It was in June of this year that Binny last played an ODI for India, against Bangladesh. Stuart Binny bagged six wickets for four runs versus Bangladesh making his performance the best ever by any Indian bowler in an ODI, surpassing Anil Kumble’s 6-12 against West Indies in the final of the Hero Cup in Kolkata in 1993.

The second ODI in the five One Day International Micromax Cup series between India and Sri Lanka will take place in Ahmedabad on Thursday, November 6, 2014.
