No place for Yuvraj, Gambhir in India’s World Cup 2015 Squad

Indian selectors headed by Sandeep Patil decided not to include India’s 2011 world cup hero Yuvraj Singh or the openers – Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir – in the preliminary squad announced for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. Paceman Zaheer Khan and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh were also not considered for the tournament. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin are the only survivors from the successful 2011 squad.

The selectors retained the 14 in India’s World Cup 2015 Squad that they had selected for the last two home ODIs against Sri Lanka along with players who were rested – MS Dhoni, Ishant Sharma, Varun Aaron, Mohd Shami, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Shikhar Dhawan and R Jadeja. The final 15-member squad should be announced latest by January 7. The World Cup starts from February 14.
