Rohit Sharma Sets World Record as Highest Scoring Batsman in ODI

Rohit Sharma, today made history by scoring 264 runs in the 4th ODI against Sri Lanka at Kolkata to become the Highest Scoring Batsman in One Day International Cricket. Sharma got to this landmark high score of his career in only 173 balls, in an innings that commentators referred to as “one of the greatest innings you will ever see in cricket.”

Becoming the highest scorer in ODIs is not the only World Record that Rohit Sharma set today. He also became the first batsman in history to score two double centuries in ODIs. Sharma’s first ODI double century came against Australia last year in Bangalore where he scored 209 off 158 balls.

Indian batsmen at the top of list among Highest ODI Scorers

It’s a matter of pride for India that the top four spots of Highest Individual Scores in ODI Cricket are held by Indian batsmen. Rohit Sharma’s name appears twice in the top four and the other two spots are held by Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar who are in the 2nd and 4th positions respectively.
