Cricket fan catches $100,000

The $100,000 catch!

Jatinder Singh wins $100,000

Indian-origin fan, Jatinder Singh, from Te Aroha has become the second person to pocket $100,000 (approx Rs.52 lakh) from a day out at the cricket after grabbing a one-handed catch in the crowd. The Hamilton cricket fan caught the ball one-handed from Corey Anderson’s bat in the 38th over of the second one-dayer between New Zealand and India, instantly earning a bumper pay day.

Jatinder Singh won the contest known as “Catch a million” that is being promoted by a beer company. According to the rules, a spectator is subjected to catch a six with one-hand to win the cash award of $100,000 NZ dollars. The promotion requires punters to purchase a Tui t-shirt and lanyard and take a clean one-handed catch during any of the international limited overs matches this summer, with the first person to do so at each game winning the money.
